Public Information Release #2 COVID-19 Coronavirus

March 16, 2020
There are currently 7 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 within Manitoba.
The Town of Gillam is monitoring and evaluating the situation on a continuous basis and at present will be making the following temporary changes to our operations (all temporary changes listed are until further notice unless indicated otherwise) effective immediately:
• Gillam Recreation Centre is closed.  This includes all areas as well as FOB access to the Wellness Centre.  Winter Carnival and any current events/activities are cancelled or postponed until further notice.
• The Town Administrative Office will be closed to the Public.

Our Public Works, Water & Wastewater Departments and Airport are all currently operating as usual.  We have taken additional measures with our staff to practice social distancing while working to maintain operations.

Manitoba is still considered to be low risk.  The virus is, however, present within the Province.  There is no need to panic, but we encourage you to take additional steps to be prepared should you be required to self-quarantine.

The Town of Gillam is committed to the safety and health of all the residents of Gillam, Fox Lake and surrounding areas.  If you are returning from international travel, the Public Health official is recommending that you self-quarantine for 14 days.  This is for not only for your protection but for the protection of the community as a whole. We must ALL work together to ensure the safety and health of everyone.
