Public Information Release #1 COVID-19 Coronavirus

Public Information Release #1 COVID-19 Coronavirus
March 13, 2020
There is currently 1 confirmed and 3 presumptive positive cases of COVID-19 within Manitoba.  Recently, the Province of Manitoba announced all public schools within the Province will be closed for 3 weeks effective March 23, 2020.
The Town of Gillam is monitoring and evaluating the situation on a continuous basis and at present will be making the following temporary changes to our operations (all temporary changes listed are until further notice unless indicated otherwise):
• Children’s play structure at Gillam Recreation Centre will be closed.
• Water fountain/water bottle stations will be unavailable for use.
Additional cleaning precautions of all public areas have already been implemented.
Our Public Works, Water & Wastewater, Airport and Administrative Departments are all currently operating as usual.
If you normally would go to the Town Office for business (bill payments, permits, licences, etc.) and are feeling unwell, please contact them and explain the nature of your business and why you can’t come in.
Manitoba is still considered to be low risk.  The virus is, however, present within the Province.  There is no need to panic, but we encourage you to take additional steps to be prepared should you be required to self-quarantine.
